In 2026, homes have been moving toward accessories that feature natural materials, have smart storage, and offer a point of view (like teak, rattan, linen, marble, and sculptural objects). This trend moves away from the matchy-matchy look of many items being the same color and feeling like a mass-produced set.
I've been sourcing and styling accessories for bathroom renovations for over 15 years. These are the ones I'm putting into clients' homes right now.
Note: The prices listed reflect the standard retail price at the time of publication. Many of these items go on sale frequently, so be sure to check for discounts!
Qualities of Good Bathroom Accessories
Before the list, a handy framework I use:
A great bathroom accessory does at least one of the following:
Adds a material not already present in the room (texture, warmth, organic form)
Solves an organizational problem
Earns its decorative place by being interesting to look at.
Ideally, it does all three.
The mistake most people make with bathroom design is buying too much or too little.
For small bathrooms, aim for three to four pieces only: one great mat, one cohesive curtain, one well-coordinated countertop set.
For larger bathrooms, the sweet spot is somewhere between eight and twelve pieces.
The Best Bathroom Accessories for 2026
The Waste Basket
A small, lidded rattan waste basket with a removable plastic insert inside. Warm honey-brown rattan adds texture and the lid keeps things discreet.
At $76.50, it's very well-priced for the quality.

Best for:
Small to medium bathrooms
Powder rooms
Master baths
Dimensions:
9.5" (D) x 11" (H) - 12.5" (H) with lid
Keep in mind, at under 10" diameter, this is more compact:
In a larger bathroom, consider placing it tucked beside the toilet or vanity.
In a powder room or half bath, it's the perfect fit.
The Bath Mat
When people hear me say "wood bath mat" their first reaction is usually...huh? Many people are used to something soft and plush, but here's why I prefer teak:
Naturally water-resistant, being native to Southeast Asia
Thrives in humid environments, which is the same one a bath mat lives in
Dries quickly and doesn't get damp the way terry does
Doesn't mold, cleans easily
Each mat is slightly unique due to the natural wood grain, knots, and splits, which. is why I love this. It goes with almost anything - warm neutrals, dark schemes, coastal palettes, modern farmhouse.

Best for:
Any bath size
Modern organic, spa-inspired, coastal schemes
Color options:
Natural
Black
Dimensions/size options:
21.75" (W) x 23" (D)
21.75" (W) x 32" (D)
21.75" (W) x 60" (D)
Tip: If you're only upgrading one thing this year, make it the mat.
The Shower Curtain
A white curtain with hand-drawn abstract lines in black. This works well in different bathrooms because it feels like art instead of pattern. It doesn't feel busy, nor does it date quickly.

Best for:
Any bath size; especially small bathrooms
Modern organic, neutral, and transitional schemes
Dimensions:
72" (W) x 72" (D)
The Countertop Set
Each piece is sold individually, which works in your favor because you can start with one or two and build from there instead of buying everything at once.
The collection includes:
Vanity tray
Soap pump
Toothbrush holder
Tissue box cover
Toilet brush in matching black Marquina marble with white veining

See it in a bathroom - we feature this collection in our Modern Organic Neutral design plan:

Best for:
Medium to large bathrooms
Master baths
Modern organic, neutral, and statement schemes
If your bathroom is on the smaller side, just start with the soap pump ($29.95), toothbrush holder ($39.95), and the vanity tray ($39.95) as a surface organizer.
Quick heads up: Some pieces in this collection go in and out of stock. Check the Nexus Black Marble collection page for current availability on each item. If a specific piece is out, CB2 allows you to sign up for a restock notification directly on the product page.
The Shelving
A matte black resin floating shelf with a soft rounded front edge and hand-painted finish. Designed by Ceci Thompson exclusively for CB2.

Best for:
Medium to large bathrooms
Master baths with blank wall space
Dimensions/size options (W):
36" (W) x 8" (D) x 2.5" (H)
48" (W) x 8" (D) x 2.5" (H)
60" (W) x 8" (D) x 2.5" (H)
At 36", this is a good size for a bathroom with some real estate on the walls. If you have a longer wall, the 48" or 60" options will be more impactful. Pair two at staggered heights for a styled shelf arrangement: a folded towel, a small plant, a candle, and the sculptural torso below.
For smaller bathrooms, this shelf works only if you have a clear horizontal run of wall uninterrupted by switches, outlets, or windows. A 36" shelf on a plain wall above a toilet is an great use of otherwise dead space.
The Decorative Object
I'm a firm believer that art has a place in the bathroom.
Of course, not every bathroom needs a gallery wall. But having at least one interesting object to look at that makes visitors ask about it is a small luxury worth having, in my humble opinion.
Enter the Seraphina: a hand-carved from a single block of sandstone in Indonesia. Taking warm grey and yellow tones of the stone, the natural material means that each piece is truly unique - just like the Teak bath mat (#2).

Best for:
Master baths (but any bath size will work if you have shelf or vanity space)
On a vanity, shelf, or side table with surface space
Statement or modern organic color schemes
Dimensions:
18" (H)
Place it on a vanity between two sinks, on the Bodene shelf with a small plant, or on a side table near a freestanding tub. At $69.95 it is one of the most impactful things you can add to a bathroom counter for under $100.
The Mirror
This is a sun-shaped convex mirror with radiating points in an antiqued gold finish. The sun exudes warmth that a standard round mirror just doesn't have. The convex glass bounces light and adds dimension, giving a designer look and feel to it,

Best for:
Medium to large bathrooms
Master baths
Statement and warm neutral color schemes
Dimensions:
13.4" (D)
At 13.4" diameter, it is a statement piece (not an oversized installation). Use it above a shelf, beside a vanity, or as a secondary mirror in a larger bathroom.
The Bath Caddy
If you have a freestanding tub and no tray, this is the most straightforward luxury upgrade I have for you.
This caddy is dark-finished teak with a live edge detail, meaning the natural irregular edge of the wood is left intact. It can sit across tubs of all sizes with an adjustable track.
It can hold a candle, book, glass, laptop (if you're brave) - you name it.

Best for:
Bathrooms with a freestanding tub
This one is specifically for bathrooms with a freestanding soaking tub. Standard alcove tubs are typically the wrong shape for a bath caddy.
Master baths
Modern organic, neutral, and spa-inspired schemes
Pairs well with dark fixtures and matte black hardware
Dimensions:
32" (W) x 8" (D) x 2.5" (H)
8" (D)
2.5" (H)
The Bathroom Stool
Made from repurposed Indonesian teak root by Mermelada Estudio, each stool is unique because of the natural holes, knots, and grain of the root material. It's not symmetrical, nor is it mass-produced, which is why it's special.
Place it besides a freestanding tub to hold towels, outside the shower, or as a low side table with a candle. It's versatile!

Best for:
Medium to large bathrooms
Master baths
Organic and spa-inspired schemes
Dimensions:
18.5" (H) x 15" (D)
Although $299 is an investment, remember that the stool is made from repurposed material and built to last. Worth it (again, in my humble opinion).
The Decorate Wall Piece
A sculptural white resin piece in a floral relief form meant to be hung on the wall. It adds perfect dimension and texture to a blank wall.

Dimensions:
18" (W) x 3" (D) x 18" (H)
Best for:
Medium to large bathrooms
Master baths, statement
Spa-inspired, and coastal schemes
The Towels
Piglet in Bed is a British lifestyle brand that launched in 2017 with the philosophy that the best homes are not perfect, they're personal. The Pembroke Stripe in Russet Yellow is inspired by vintage British deck chairs, made from 600gsm zero-twist cotton, finished with a delicate fringe edge.

The color is not a flat mustard nor is it orange - it's more of a honey-caramel that pairs naturally with teak, rattan, cognac leather, and natural linen.
No-twist cotton means the fibers are looser and therefore softer and more absorbent than standard twisted cotton, while still holding up wash after wash.
Best for:
Any bath size
Modern organic, warm neutral schemes
The Storage Basket
A natural weave basket with a black strap or trim detail.
Use it for extra towels, rolled linens, or overflow storage beside a vanity.

Best for:
Medium to large bathrooms
Master baths
Modern farmhouse, organic, and neutral schemes
Dimensions:
With handles
22" (H) x 20" (D)
Without handles
19.5" (H) x 20" (D)
The Wall Planter
A sculptural wall-mounted container in a clam shell form. Trail a string-of-pearls plant or a small pothos through it for a living, textured moment on a bare wall.

Best for:
Any bath with blank wall space
Spa-inspired, warm neutral, and coastal schemes
Dimensions:
19cm (H) x 36cm (W) x 24cm (D)
How These Accessories Connect to a Complete Design Plan
I do not source accessories in isolation. They're chosen as part of a whole: tile, fixtures, vanity, lighting, and accessories together.
I run Prefixe Design offering digital bathroom design plans across a variety of styles. Each includes accessory recommendations alongside the full material story so everything works together before you spend a dollar.
Where to Source Bathroom Accessories Without Overpaying
Most design blogs skip this part because they are linked to one retailer. Here's where I look:
First, check out dupe.com to find lower-priced visual alternatives before committing to any higher-end purchase. You're welcome.
HomeGoods and TJ Maxx rotate inventory fast.
Rattan, ceramic objects, small sculptural pieces, organic texture items. If you see it, buy it. It will not be there the following week.
Wayfair Open Box and warehouse sales are worth checking for shelving, mirrors, and larger storage items.
Estate sales and vintage markets are where you find the one object that makes a room feel collected rather than curated.
Apps like EstateSales.net and Chairish make this easy to do without leaving your couch.
CB2 and Pottery Barn run regular sales.
Set alerts for the pieces you want.
The accessories in this post are sourced from CB2 specifically because the material quality and design sensibility are consistently strong.
ABC Carpet is worth browsing for statement objects.
The selection is genuinely unusual.
Good for the one or two investment pieces.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Do bathroom accessories need to match my hardware finish?
They do not need to match exactly, but they should be in conversation with each other. Matte black fixtures want dark companions: black marble, blackened wood, dark rattan. Brushed brass wants warmth: cognac leather, camel textiles, antiqued gold mirrors. Exact matching tends to look rigid.
How many accessories does a bathroom actually need?
Less than you think. A well-edited bathroom typically works with eight to twelve pieces total. A countertop set, a mat, a shower curtain, towels, one shelf arrangement, and one or two objects.
What is the single best upgrade for a bathroom?
Swap the towels and the mat. These are the highest-frequency interactions in any bathroom and they signal quality immediately. If budget allows, add one sculptural object to a shelf or the vanity. Those two changes will do more for how the room feels than any amount of matching accessories from a big box set.
Are these good for small bathrooms?
Most of them, yes. The teak mat, abstract shower curtain, and coordinated countertop set all work well in smaller spaces. The Coral Resin Wall Art and the teak stool are better suited to medium or larger bathrooms with room for them.

Where is the best place to source bathroom accessories in the US in 2026?
CB2 for investment-quality organic pieces. Pottery Barn for statement decor. HomeGoods and TJ Maxx for rotating texture and ceramic finds. Wayfair open-box for shelving and larger items. Estate sales and Chairish for the one-of-a-kind object that makes a room feel personal.
